Project Imagine
Learning Goal(s)/Essential Question
How do scientists solve problems?
· Undertake a design project, engaging in the design cycle, to construct and/or implement a solution that meets specific design criteria and constraints.
Project Overview
Students first brainstormed a list of simple, every-day problems they experience. They then selected one of the problems and focused on a device that solved that problem. To help the students think like inventors, we watched videos on famous inventions and read articles about middle school and high school students who have created devices to solve problems.
Students made sketches of their device and then constructed a prototype to put on display. Students wrote an essay explaining their design process and created a board to advertise their invention. Students presented to their peers and gave feedback to each other.
