Sixth Grade
Directed Inquiry: Students are given the problem/question and procedure to be cared out. As the year progresses, students design the procedures together with decreasing influence from the teacher. The analysis of data and creation of a conclusion are stressed from the beginning.
|
Seventh Grade
Guided Inquiry: Students are given more freedom to design and carry out the experiment. The teacher still provides the problem/question students are to investigate.
|
Eighth Grade
Open Inquiry: Giving the most freedom, the problem/question is chosen by the students along with the selection of materials and design of the procedure.
